Cause I’m leaving on a jet plane.

April 27, 2009

Though I do know when I’ll be back again.  So, if I’m missing for a few days, don’t forget about me.  I’m leaving early Thursday morning, and will be returning Tuesday afternoon.  I’m very much looking forward to Key West, though not the plane ride there.  I’m a novice flyer, for one, and for two, I have a tendency toward motion sickness.  That and the general awkwardness of traveling, and security checkpoints and such.

Does anyone have any experience with taking knitting or crocheting on a plane?  I thought I’d bring a little something along so that I had something to do on the plane as well as if there was any quiet time in the hotel.  I really don’t think a crochet hook would be classified as a weapon, and it looks like they are allowed by the TSA, but I’m still not sure.  I don’t want to be the girl who holds up the line.  See the things I worry about?

Anyway.  I might be making an appearance here before I leave, or while I’m gone (though the latter seems unlikely).  I would like to post the pictures of the suprises before I leave.  But I can’t post them until after my sister goes to work Wednesday night (since one of them is for her).

And when I get back, I hope to be even more regular with the posting, and certainly more prolific with the photos.  There will be no shortage of projects when I return, either, with 2 baby quilts to finish, and bags for the shop!

Not just sewing.

April 14, 2009

I realize that this blog is named “a simple stitch.”  And I intend for it to be mainly about my sewing ventures.  However, it will be about life too.  I figure it is all interwoven in some way, and really, everything in my life right now is relating back to sewing.  I’m not going to bore you with constant posts about my personal life, no worries there.  But I want you to know me, and so, know me you shall.

I’m gearing up for a trip to the gym tonight, and amazingly enough I’m rather excited about it.  I’m hoping that the man will provide dinner so I can get sewing at a decent time tonight.  I’ve starting quilting the surprise project, and it’s really taking a toll.  For starters, it’s huge.  Ok.  Not really huge, but huge in regards to quilting on a little singer machine.  I think it will be very beautiful when all is said and done, but I’m only getting about 30-40 minutes of quilting in per evening.  I’m just afraid of killing my machine.

I’m also learning amigurumi.  See, I have all these crochet hooks, and all this yarn, but years of it sitting around has shown that I’m just never going to really finish an afghan.  So, enter these cute little stuff things, and a little extra spare time in the evenings when I need something to occupy my hands and thoughts, plus loads of unused yarn and a hook, and I’m a happy little girl.  I even have an elephant head already.  I would have taken a picture, but it kinda looks like, well, ha.  I’m not going to say so as not to lead to unwanted traffic, but it had us laughing last night.

Things I did today.

I also installed a 30 day trial of Adobe Photoshop Elements, went grocery shopping, cleaned the kitchen, did some laundry, went to Joann’s only to find it closed, went to McDonalds for a hot fudge sundae only to find out they had no ice cream, ate part of a rotten peach, and ate a plum while holding a ladder.

I’m have a day where I’m finding it hard to concentrate on one single task, if you couldn’t tell.  But it’s not been a bad day all together.

Happy Easter.

Starting Over.

April 7, 2009

I’m just testing some things out.  I’ve been blogging over at www.stitchworks.blogspot.com, but for starters, I’m over the “stitchworks” and I’m also looking for some different functionality.  As I’m not ready to spend dollars for a blog few people (at this point read), I thought I’d try WordPress to see how I like it.
